Through it all, Minnelli provided Garland with unconditional love and support, and Garland treated her daughter as an artistic equal, inviting a then-18-year-old Minnelli to share the stage in a memorable November 8, 1964, performance at the London Palladium. Her relationship with her mother, however, had its fair share of difficulties, as Garland struggled with addiction. Minnelli has described her relationship with her parents (who later divorced) as a loving one.
